ABOUT THE CONFERENCE
I am pleased to inform you of the new date for the first ever Women in Security, Defence, Law Enforcement and Judiciary Conference and Awards, and to invite your organisation once more to participate at the event. This is a unique opportunity to join other distinguished women from across Nigeria for a memorable event to celebrate the contributions of women in these sectors to national security, safety and development, and to chart a way forward on how this unique group of the women can further support their country in proffering solutions to some of the challenges confronting Nigeria in times like this.
This conference will provide a forum for Women and other stakeholders to address the important issues of the Girl-Child Education; Sexual harassment of young female Student in Universities and tertiary Institutions; the rise in Violent Crimes against Women, and illegal and irregular migration. In addition to providing a platform for Women to build networks and address other peculiar gender issues that will promote performance in these critical sectors.
On the other hand, the honours awards will identify, recognize, reward and celebrate the significant achievements of women in these sectors. It will additionally help to showcase authentic role models for our young people. The category of awards are: 1] Life Time Achievers Award [this award is proposed for persons whose service has had an all-time significant impact on their profession]; 2] Icon of integrity Award [this award is for persons who have demonstrated notable integrity and transparency in the discharge of their duties and responsibilities; 3] Service Excellence Award [this award is for persons who have demonstrated uncommon commitment, competence and diligence to duty; 4] the Most Gender Sensitive Chief Executive Officer’s Award; 5] the Most Gender Friendly Organization’s Award.
The events will now hold as follows; the conference will hold at 9.00AM daily from July 18th to 20th July, while the honours awards ceremony will hold at 5.00 PM on July 20th, 2017 at the beautiful NAF Conference Centre, Abuja. The events are being organised by the Faculty of Social Sciences, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and the International Institute for Security and Governance Studies, Abuja.
